Destination wedding planning tips

Working as a destination wedding photographer, I always enjoy working with a great wedding planner. Good communication should be maintained between the wedding planner and photographer at all times, as it’s essential they are both on the same page before and during the wedding.

For anyone who is in the middle of the planning process, it would be helpful just to talk about the perfect relationship that should exist between the planner and the photographer.

Time allowance

Your planner should make plenty of time for your photographer. The last thing you want is for your photographer to be rushed during your portraits and bridal shots. A good time frame is at least 30 to 50 minutes, which will allow enough time for the fun bridal party shots and the beautiful portraits that you will cherish forever.

Detailed timeline

The photographer should have a detailed timeline that will ensure that the important moments are captured: the kiss, the throwing of the bouquet, the confetti throwing, etc.. Having a planner who can clearly communicate with your photographer will work wonders. She or he needs to know when those moments are coming so that she or he can clearly communicate that with your photographer.

Sharing photos

Will your photographer be generous enough to share some photos with the vendors at your destination wedding? The wedding planner may not have time to take any photos from your wedding day to showcase a few shots for their website. This might not be on your mind but it is something nice you could do for your planner.

These are a few things you can keep in mind when you are planning your destination wedding or special event. Wedding planners relieve a lot of your pressure on your wedding day, as you can be assured they will do their best to help make the day run as smoothly as possible.

It takes a lot of time and hard work to pull a wedding together, and using a wedding planner who has organised plenty of weddings can ensure that nothing is missed and bring your vision to life.
